DIFFERENT KINDS OF FUNERALS

Funerals are an integral part of our society, it may be elaborate in certain societies or simple ritualistic ones. It all boils down to how the person or his/her loved one wants see them go.

Usually there are two kinds that most follow for funerals:

  1. Burial- put into a pit and covered in mud

  2. Cremation- burned by fire or electricity

Burial


Those opting or burial should check out the burial ground and find out the fee, which may be different for different grounds. The burial ground will give a burial period of 15 years beginning from the date of burial, burial grounds are reused.


Those who cremate and want to bury their ashes of their loved ones can do so on smaller allotted individual plots on the burial grounds, after they have been kept in the columbaria niches for a period of 15 years.


Cremation


There are private and public crematoriums and the funeral director will guide which one to choose from.


After the cremation the family may choose to store the ashes of their loved one in the columbaria which are also owned by private and government owned.


It is also important to understand that the kind of funeral and the place where the funeral will be conducted is to be mentioned in the certificate.


It is quite an emotionally taxing time but if the funeral director guides you through this, it will be quite smooth sailing and will go accordingly to the planned schedule and it will be worth remembering too.
